Amplify Education: A Bold New Voice for Bristol

Amplify is the result of a merger between two highly respected organisations, Trust in Learning Academies (TiLA) and Cathedral Schools Trust (CST). Following formal approval from the Department for Education (DfE) and a period of thorough due diligence, both Boards carefully reviewed a detailed merger business case and unanimously agreed to proceed. By bringing together the complementary strengths, expertise, and shared values of TiLA and CST, Amplify marks an exciting new chapter, creating a collaborative organisation committed to excellence, inclusion, and innovation in education for our schools and communities.

Together, Amplify will be the largest Bristol-based multi-academy trust, serving approximately 12,000 pupils across 21 schools and covering diverse communities and geographies.

Ambitious. Reflective. Collaborative. That's us.

Our Vision

Amplify will be committed to transforming education in Bristol through four guiding principles:

  • A Bold Voice for Bristol: Speaking with ambition and channelling the city’s spirit into a shared journey of belief, opportunity, and citizenship.

  • Building Belief: Ensuring every young person’s voice is heard, every story matters, and every learner moves forward with confidence.

  • Expanding Opportunities: Nurturing potential and enriching each learner’s journey with a passport of inclusive, academic, creative, and musical experiences.

  • Strengthening Citizenship: Connecting communities and educating to build unity and pride—this is Bristol, represented.

Bristol Cathedral Choir School (BCCS)

BCCS

BCCS is Bristol’s oldest school, tracing its origins back to the establishment of St Augustine’s Abbey in the 12th century, and possibly even earlier. In September 2008, it became an 11-18 co-educational Academy, specialising in Music and Mathematics. Since then, it has consistently been Bristol’s most over-subscribed secondary school.

Following the consultation during 2018/19, BCCS governors agreed to name Cathedral Primary School as a feeder school. For further information please see the Admissions page of our website.

Cathedral Primary School children will benefit substantially from links with the Academy. They will have access to many BCCS facilities, including the modern dining hall in the Cresswell Centre, outdoor play areas and the senior school’s state-of-the-art music centre. In addition, BCCS staff will often be on hand to provide specialist subject expertise and we will be encouraging some students in the secondary school to work with the primary children. The primary school will nonetheless be a separate school, with contact between senior and primary school pupils strictly limited for safety and safeguarding reasons, including at break times and lunch time.
